light circuit upgrade

This modification was inspired by Ken Lewis' description of his solution to the mediocre stock Vanagon circuit.

The stock set-up does not use relays, the full current to the lights goes through the light switch. There is an inherent voltage loss in that situation that perceptably diminishes brightness of your lights. If you upgrade your lights to a higher wattage bulb, then there is more current flowing throught that circuit, enough maybe to burn out the light switch.

This upgraded circuit is a compromise, while it does bring a separate 8 guage wire from the battery to power the lights, the the stock wires that originally ran from the switch to the lights are retained and now connect the relays to the lights. One could replace these with heavier guage wire, but the run is short and I don't get an appreciable voltage drop as is.

I tucked the relays in between the steering column and the dash, under that small section of plastic fascia.

It works well with my 100/80W H4 lightbulbs
