The jukebox is constructed of MDF and 1x1 strapping. Screws and glue were used to attach the MDF
and strapping together from the inside.
The jukebox shape and size is determined by the components used. The top section holds the 15 inch monitor
which had the back of its case removed for cooling. The major component in the bottom section
is the subwoofer. A small hinged door
in the rear provides access to the CDROM and floppy drive while a removable
panel in the front allows access to the subwoofer. A separate rounded section at the front completes the cabinet
and holds the marquee and L/R speakers. It is covered with tin sheathing and
is framed with wood. All cabinet parts were painted with semi gloss black paint and
sanded lightly between coats. It took
3 coats to produce the desired finish. The monitor is protected by lexan and a bezel was ordered from a
framing store and is a mounting mat. |
