Introduction to Compressed Breathing Air Analysis

Compressed breathing air has many applications, high pressure use in Self - Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) used by fire departments and other hazardous environment workers as well as recreational and commercial divers and low pressure in Medical Gas Pipelines and personal mask uses ( paint and sandblasting booths ). This document provides some practical information about the tests needed to guarantee Compressed Breathing Air Quality as described in the CSA International publications:

Z180.1-00 Compressed Breathing Air and Systems

Z94.4-02 Selection, Use, and Care of Respirators

 Z275.1-93 Hyperbaric facilities

Z275.2--92 Occupational Safety Code for Diving Operations

Z275.3 Occupational Safety Code for Construction Work in Compressed Air
CAN/CSA-Z305.1-92 Non-Flammable Medical Gas Piping Systems
 CAN/CSA-Z305.6-92 Medical Oxygen Concentrator

Note: Please refer to the printed version of the CSA regulations for reference. This is published here for information only.
