Peacock Face

The original image was taken at Flamingo Garden where Peacocks roam at will and will come close.  I pumped up the face and sharpened it. Then I isolated the background and used a posterization filter.

Welcome back.  You did a nice job of separating out the background.  I always learn something from your posts.  In this one:   Posturize the background to subordinate it to the main image.  You may also want to desaturate it some.  I also couldn't resist adding a chartreuse glow to the peacock eye.

This is a lovely portrait of a peacock.  Posterization of the background sets it off very well.  The colours are great.

I like the close up portrait of the peacock. The treatment to the background both from the colour aspect and the posterized shapes, complements the image of the bird.

The colors are vivid and I particularly like the blues. I find the muted background very interesting but not to the extent of detracting from the bird.

Well done, with a nice balance and composition.  It might be  \better with a little color contrast in the background.

I have been in PSA since 1974 and am APSA. I have stars in Photo-travel, Photo-journalism, pictorial and nature. I haven't entered any salons for several (probably 10) years since I have been busy with work. I am 61 and still a full-time practicing physician.

I have used the EOS Canon system for many years but my first foray into digital was with a Nikon 5700. At first I took pictures for my wife's on-line fine art and fine craft gallery (ci-gallery.com) and used the macro capabilities of the 5700. When Canon came out with their digital imaging line, I waited for prices to get down to somewhat reasonable. I am now shooting almost exclusively with a Canon 10D and I have all my canon lenses to go with it.

My computer is windows-based pc (a Dell) and I use Adobe Photo-shop 7 (and trying to get CS soon). I would not call myself anywhere near expert with photo-shop. I recently got some plug-ins which are Alienskin Zenofex and Autofx's Edges 6.0. I like to do abstract and photo-manipulations or to optomize as some say.

I don't have a good portrait yet to send but will work on it.  I look forward to participating.
