Give Meaningful Tokens Rather Than Expensive Gifts.

Gifts do not have to be expensive to have meaning.

On the contrary - homemade gifts are truly the most  meaningful, because they are unique and come from the heart.  They aretreasured gifts that are remembered longer than an appliance or clothing.  Try something that is symbolic of  your spirituality and that will be displayed or used often.  Some ideas are a collection of inspirational Bible passages or family photos made into an album or scrapbook.  Other ideas are framed cross-stitching or homemade ornaments.  Visit a Christian Bookstore for gifts that will be remembered.

Remember Christ's Birthday.

These days it is difficult to remember what Christmas is really about.
Christmas is truly the most commercialized time of every year.
Set aside time in your celebrations for Christ with prayer and devotions.

Bake a special Birthday cake for Jesus.
You can place a figurine of Jesus or of Baby Jesus in a manger on top of the cake.
Light a candle and sing "Happy Birthday" to Him with the children in your family.

Remember Christ during the New Year as well.
Make  resolutions that reflect your desire to be more like Him.
Some suggestions are:
To donate time and money to those in need at least once a month;
To read from your Bible once a day;
To call or visit a lonely friend or relative regularly;
Work on forgiveness and difficult relstionships.

Place reminders in your Bible and on your calendar.

Do Something Special for Someone.
We all have the means to help others.  Do something special for someone at Christmas Time.  Help out at a homeless shelter or make a donation.  Leave a turkey or basket of food at the door of someone in need.  Find out what churches and schools are doing and  contribute.
Helping others makes people feel good  ......there is absolutely no feeling like it.
Let the Holy Spirit inspire you.

Prayers

Although ideally prayers should not be pre-meditated, take some time to make a special  Christmas Prayer.  You have the ability to inspire people to do good things when you pray together.  Remember to be thankful for God's blessings of health and good fortune, because no matter how bad things are, you can bet that you are far better off than many people.  Pray for guidance, wisdom, courage and forgiveness.  Pray for others to open their hearts to God's Holy Spirit as well, this is one of the most special things that you can do for others.  There are many prayer books that you may refer to.
Here is a little prayer that might inspire you.......

Our Heavenly Father, we come together today to celebrate the birth of Your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Through Him we receive salvation and everlasting life and peace.  We thank You for the many blessings that You bestow upon us.  We ask for Your blessing on our family today and always.  Keep us healthy and  safe.  Help us to become  more like Jesus in everything we do.  We pray also for others who are less fortunate, that they do not go without.   Bless them with Your Spirit, that they may have the joy and peace known only through Your grace and love.  We ask these things in the name of your son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Prayers for Children

Pray with your children at Christmas Time.  Teach them that Christmas is about remembering God's gift to us.  This prayer may inspire you..........

Our Dear Jesus,  we thank you for the many things that you give to us.
Help us to be kind to others and love them in the way that you love us.
Please keep us safe and healthy.  We love you.
We ask these things in Your name Jesus, Amen.
