Food Photography for cookbooks is a highly specialized field.
To achieve the highest image quality I use large format 4"x5" film cameras that allow perspective control and focus controls not avaialble on standard cameras, digital SLR's or medium format cameras.

To use those types of cameras is a special skill that is practiced in fields like high quality product photography, or architecture.
4x5 inch film produces astonishing quality and can be enlarged to the size of posters like 8x10 feet and larger.

What does it have to do with a cookbook?
Good question.
Incredible detail, depth of colour, saturation, sharpness and perfect focus are what this format brings to the image and what makes the image stand out.

Capturing the best images for your book takes more than just a camera: a variety of props, dishes and linens; knowledge and understanding of food trends and presentation styles; technical ability to execute; and experience working with liquids, hot, frozen, and reflective materials.
