BIOGRAPHY

This biography comes in two flavours! The short version below or a longer version, with pictures, for the intrepid explorer.

I believe that I was born an artist! I relate to life in a visual way! I like to think that Art, like Music, enhances our lives and elevates us far beyond the idea of simply being intelligent animals.

Frustrated by formal art instruction, I spent my early years almost exclusively sketching with pencil. I didn’t begin painting until I was 20 years old and in this I am completely self-taught.

Camping, canoeing and hiking through Canada as well as the United States, provide me with much pleasure and inspiration for my Nature Art. Trips to the Zoo with camera and sketchpad can also be highly rewarding.

I enjoy experimenting with different mediums, papers, etc., but the majority of my works are Acrylic on stretched canvas, and Watercolor on stretched paper. The works and philosophies of the Modern Realist Nature painters are a major influence on what I hope has become my own unique style of painting.
