April saw Marie progress rapidly from a non-communicative individual to a talkative vibrant person. She is as good as she ever was, with the exception of her ability to get around the house with her normal walker. She makes it all about the lower level with her gutter walker unaided and has managed a shopping trip, two trips to her gardens and back and forth to the garage to the Kia. Next event will be to get her upstairs.

Gardens are all in flower now. Rhubarb is probably ready to be picked and the fruit trees are all in blossom. Bees are hard at work so we should have a decent crop. I think Marie is planning how to get to a nursery to buy her flowers for her pots about the front yard. we will see how that goes. She wants to try planted her vegetables in the coming weeks.

We traded in her smaller wheel chair for a larger sized one since we are not concerned with getting it into the smart. The newer one is much easier on Pat and my back when we wheel her about. Only problem is that her feet no longer touch the floor and she can't get about easily on her own.

I had a quiet 76th birthday with a really neat bunch of coloured flame candles that Pat & John found. Marie and I are now the same age so I cannot complain about being married to an older woman. The ceramic fry pan works better than I anticipated. Thanks Pam. A big "Thank You" to all who sent cards and email birthday wishes.

Pete's weight loss programme is working well. He has now lost 26 kilos (57 lb) since early 2011. Blood sugars are excellent and he still enjoys sweet treats!.

Well that's it for now folks. Remember - we are always open for visits from friends and family. Marie's balance, back and leg problems preclude any strenuous work or travel on her part, but we love to see and entertain people in our home. Spare rooms always open for bookings and a King Size bed and en suite is waiting to take care of those who like the extra room and convenience.
