Welcome All Parents to Kits!

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) welcomes all new and returning families to the vibrant community of Kitsilano Secondary.

The Kits PAC includes parents and guardians of all Kitsilano students. Our goal is to encourage more involvement by parents in activities at the school to provide the best possible education for our children. Our diverse and talented parent body is an important asset, and our participation in school events enriches our school community.

Attending PAC meetings is a great way to socialize with other parents, exchange ideas, and connect with the school community. Our meetings this year are as follows:

Tuesday, September 15 - Welcome and orientation
Wednesday, October 14
Tuesday, November 17
Thursday, December 3
Wednesday, January 13
Wednesday, February 3
March - no PAC meeting due to Spring Break
Tuesday, April 13
Wednesday, May 19 - Annual General Meeting

For your reference, the PAC meetings for the 2009-2010 school year are listed in the summer newsletter, as well as on the handy fridge magnet you received in that package.

Here is the Kits PAC executive for 2009-2010:

Chair: James Burton
Vice-Chairs: Mary Chipman; Lisa Herrera
Treasurer: Cathy Goodban
Secretary: Andrew Larigakis

Welcome Coffee & Tea Morning

On Tuesday, September 8, Kits PAC is hosting a coffee and tea morning in the library from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. as a special welcome to our Grade 8 parents/guardians and other parents new to the school. Look out for posted signs that will direct you there.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents, ask questions about the school, and learn about PAC activities. Returning parents are also welcome to mix, mingle and renew friendships over a cup of joe!

Call for Nominations

At our AGM last May we filled all PAC positions, except for that of DPAC (District Parent Advisory Council) representative. If time allows, the PAC would like to elect a DPAC representative at our first meeting on September 15. A description of the position is available here.

We welcome all nominations! This is an interesting position, especially if you would like to learn about educational issues in Vancouver. To nominate yourself or others (willing, of course!), contact kitspac@hotmail.com
