Access to
information
|
|

|
The Kits
PAC wants all parents to have easy access to information from and about the
school community.
Here are some of our communications tools:
This newsletter is the PAC E-News. It is produced by the PAC to keep
parents informed about parent and school community activities. It is
typically sent on Fridays. If you sent your email address to the school and
you gave them permission to share the information with us, your name has been
added to our mailing list. Once you've signed up, you don't need to do it
again. Do you know Kits parents who aren't receiving this newsletter? Ask
them to send an email to kitspac@hotmail.com to
subscribe.
Synrevoice is the newsletter produced by the
school administration. If you provided your email address to the school when
you filled out the Emergency Contact form in the first week of school, you
automatically will receive the principal's newsletter every Monday.
Dial A Demon is a telephone directory of Kits students grouped
according to grade level. It is published by the PAC and sold at cost at PAC
meetings and other school events. It is an extremely useful tool to have for
parents and students alike. Tracking friends down, asking about homework from
acquaintances - this is where the Dial A Demon comes in handy.
To get your student's name in the directory, follow the instructions at http://members.shaw.ca/QPAC/K-PAC-Dial-a-Demon.html
Kitsilano School PAC values your privacy and at no time do we give our parent
phone numbers or e-mail addresses to outside agencies. Your addresses are for
our use only and we appreciate your trust in us.
IMPORTANT: If your student's contact information is in the previous
Dial-A-Demon, you do not need to submit another form.

SUPPORTING
OUR SCHOOL AND OUR STUDENTS
|
|

|
The KITS NOW CAMPAIGN, now in its fourth year, is
the direct donation fundraising initiative of the Kitsilano Parent Advisory
Council (PAC). This campaign will be the only PAC fundraising initiative
for 2008 - 2009.
Parent response to other recent fundraising initiatives like the Kits Gift
Card program has been poor despite the tremendous time and effort of
volunteers.
For 2008-2009 Kits PAC is asking for a tax deductible donation from each Kits family. This year the recommended amount is $75.00
per family. This is a significant amount to address the significant needs of
our students and our school. Like all PACs, Kits PAC raises money for items
not paid for by the school district or Ministry of Education.
Among items listed below are some items we would like to support but do not
currently have sufficient funds for.
School Yearbook
Additonal computers / software
LCD projectors
Other classroom technology
Additional Library Books / CDs /DVDs
Field Trips
Theatre productions (including costumes, materials, rentals, etc.)
Musical instruments and productions
Sports uniforms
Sports rentals, field trips, etc.
Guest Speakers
Visiting Artist Program
Scholarship Program
Each request for funds is reviewed individually by the PAC before payment is
authorized. Any parent can attend PAC meetings and review the distribution of
funds.
Your support is needed for the school and accepted with sincere gratitude.
Please print the form found at http://members.shaw.ca/YHT99/Kits-PAC-Kits-Now-Poster-2008-9.pdf
and bring it along with your contribution to the Parent Walkabout or drop it
off at the school office. On behalf of students, teachers, staff and
parents... thanks for your help!

I Walk to
Breakfast: Wed. Oct. 8th (8:30-10:00am)
|
|

|
"I Walk to Breakfast"
Wed. Oct. 8th (8:30-10:00am)
400 Kitsilano students will be participating in a brisk 30 min. walk followed
by a nutritional breakfast in the cafeteria. This is a province wide event
organized by "Breakfast for Learning
BC" to promote the
benefits of good nutrition and physical activity. Currently our group is the
2nd largest participating in the province.
The breakfast will consist of a breakfast wrap, piece of fruit and a juice
box.
We could use parent volunteers to help with the following:
1) Assist at intersections during the walk. (The walk will leave the front of
the school at approx. 8:50am and head east on 10th Ave. to Arbutus. Turn south on
Arbutus to 16th Ave. Turn west on 16thAve. to Larch
. Turn north on Larch and head back to the school.)
2) Parents at the cafeteria doors to collect breakfast vouchers from those
who have walked and to help direct students to line ups for food.
3) We will spend approx. $800 for breakfast items. If parents or the PAC
would like to donate money to assist with the event they would get a tax
deductible receipt.
It should be a great event. We will have some teachers and students dressed
up as nutritional fruits. The Vancouver Sun and Courier have been asked to
attend along with the Premier of BC.
Interested parents should contact Cheryl Hoover by leaving a message at
the school office or emailing me at choover@vsb.bc.ca. Leave contact
information and how they would like to help & I will get back to them.
Many Thanks.
C. Hoover
