CENTRAL AMERICA - Costa Rica, Belize, Guatemala
| Costa Rica - where, in 2004, I discovered the delights of mud; Belize, my special favourite; and Tikal, Guatemala where the Mayan ruins are spectacular. And where my brand new SLR suffered heat stroke and seized up completely. So I was reduced to using an already damaged point-and-shoot sports camera. |

| Belize | - The
highlight of my 2005 trip to Belize was a 3-day camping and canoe trip down
the Belize River as well as a week's stay in Hopkins. Spent a
fun-filled evening at the Hopkins Drum Centre listening to the music of
drums. And still using a wonky camera.
- What can one say about the Mayan ruins of Tikal other than that they are absolutely awe-inspiring? Tikal was an addition to the 2005 Belize trip, so I only got to Tikal and Ciudad de Flores, with a quick Spanish lesson in San Jose (across Lake Petén) thrown in for good measure |
