Transit and Accomodations
|
Victoria is on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
(Click
on this for a map for our location)
To get here by car from Vancouver BC you will need to take a ferry (there are no bridges), or by foot, bus or plane (its way too far to swim).
Transit Options are:
- BC Ferries -
for the BC Ferry schedules. There are 8 sailing a day. It is a 1 hour and 35 minute trip
through the Gulf Island, it will take 30 minutes to unload, and another 35
to 40 minutes to drive into downtown Victoria, so please allow for
plenty of travel time from Vancouver or the lower mainland.
- The famous Coho Ferry
from Port Angeles, WA, to Victoria. It has 1 or 2 sailings
daily - click here
from MV Coho schedules. Coming to Victoria you must be at the terminal at least an hour a head of time to by car, or 20 minutes if by foot. Headed back you must be at the terminal 90 minutes prior to leaving due to US Boarder security. This is a 90 minute trip, but takes you down-town Victoria.
By foot your options are:
- BC Transit runs a relatively inexpensive connection to the BC Ferries Terminals in Victoria for ferries foot
passengers, but these are city busses, so pack light as they
due not accommodate a lot of luggage. Click here for rout
map at this end. On the other side (Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal) the Translink
620 bus will take you to the Bridgport Station where you can
exchange to the Canada Line to go to the Vancouver
International Airport, or hop another bus. Click here
for for the Translink trip planner and look up bus
620. Cost is about $3.75 one way.
- The Pacific
Coach Lines runs 8 or more trips daily to Victoria from Vancouver, and 4 times daily between Seatle and Vancouver.
It runs between downtown bus stations, picking up at major
hotels, and along route at certain locations. You can also
connect with them on the BC Ferries ships. Call them for
details. Very convenient, they cost is $43 or $84
return, depot to depot, and that includes all taxes and
ferry costs. Cost may very depending on where you join them.
- The Victoria
Clipper is a high speed catamaran that runs once daily
form Seatle to Victoria, harbour to harbour at 8AM, and
returning at 5PM. See their web site for details. On the
11th of February cost are $81 US return on the 15th. Travel
time is 2 hours 45 minutes.
- Harbour Air or
Westcoast
Air will get you from Vancouver Hourbour to
Downtown Victoria for about $145 one way. Both use deHavilland
Twin Otters. Harbour air flies ever half hour.
- Kenmore
Air uses a Turbine
Single Otter to fly between Seattle Lake Union and
Victoria's inner harbour twice a day. Cost our about $135
one way.
- Alaska Air/Horizon
air can bring you here form much of the US, with Horizon
servicing Victoria Internation Airport (YYJ). Best price
right now $141.00 one way from Seatle.
- Air Canada and
West
Jet fly in and out of YYJ daily form all sorts of
places. Air Canada has a direct flight from Toronto for as
low as $409.
Transit While in Victoria:
Victoria has a reasonable good buss schedule, and an competitive taxi service.
At this time we are not sure where the Bash and the Darkside runs will be, however, they are likely to be close to transit.
The need to find a hall for the 500th run event, unfortunately, left us away from close weekend buses. Taxi and designated drivers may be our tactic. The web master will post any plans or suggestion that the organizing committee comes up with on this site as and when they come available.
Bike rentals will be available for the CRRAP, not included in Hash price.
Accomodations:
