M4A2 (76) HVSS
When Academy released their M4A2 (76) Red
Army kit, I rejoiced. The first thing that popped into my head was strip the
suspension off of it, add HVSS and BAM …. A Canuck post war Shermie. My joy
turned to dismay as I opened the kit and viewed the horrible rear plate that
was so out of alignment with an M4A2 that it wasn’t even funny. But not to be
stopped, out came the razor saw and styrene and soon I had the rear hull plate
realigned. Except for the suspension and tracks, the rest of the kit was built
pretty much OOB other than getting rid of the step in the gun barrel. The
suspension is a spare set from DML and the tracks are from AFV Club. Dust
covers are made with tissue paper soaked in white glue and water and the
markings are from Quartermasters Depot.
The finished model represents a tank
of the Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCDs) sometime during the late 40s.
