M4 Sherman
Early Production Hull
This would be the kit that started it
all. I had built quite a few Sherman Tanks for other people and organizations
before, but never one for myself. So in 1992, I decided to tackle one for
myself. This is Kirin’s resin
conversion for the early M4 Sherman with Direct Vision slots. This long OOP
conversion was one of the first resin kits that I tackled and I was quite
impressed with the quality of the castings. The donor kit for the lower hull
was Italeri’s M4A1 Sherman. Looking back at this kit now, I can see a few
mistakes that I made in regards to things like the suspension units. But, this
is still the kit that started to draw me away from the world of dunklegelb and
into the true world of Olive Drab. A few more German kits would follow, but
soon were completely off the work bench.
