M10 “Duckbill”
And yet another offering from one of
the Group Builds on
The LEM. This time it’s Academy’s M10 “Duckbill”.
There were 4 finishers in this G.B.
and we all worked at the same speed with various section deadlines throughout
the build. It was interesting to watch as the 4 LEM members brought their M10’s
to a finish and the differences that were achieved.
I decided to build mine without any
aftermarket parts, other than a few satchels that I have laying around. M10s
were literally festooned with stowage and I made mine with this in mind. The
tarps, bedrolls, and camo nets are either Kleenex or cheesecloth soaked in
white glue and water. The model was finished using Model Master acrylics and
given numerous earth tone washes of artist acrylics. Final weathering was
achieved with earth tone pastels. Mud was created using a mix of putty, white glue,
acrylic paint, coffee grounds and hair.
The second last pic is a little
photochop showing the M10 being given the once over by some European locals.
The final pic in the series shows the
works of all four G.B. members.
