Churchill Mk. III – Bert at Dieppe
In 1995, I wanted to build a
Churchill to commemorate
The Canadians at Dieppe. Bert
became my choice due to
the amount of reference pics
available of this vehicle.
Bert was one of the Churchills
that made it off the beaches.
Not having a Churchill Mk.
III on the market at the time
that I wanted to build this
kit (other than overpriced resin kits),
I had to do some major
changes to Tamiya’s Churchill Mk. VII
Crocodile kit. The hatches
were open on Bert when the crew
evacuated the tank. I did all
mods to both the interior and
exterior of this Churchill
without the use of any after market
parts. The markings for the
most part are hand painted
to represent the Calgary
Tanks Regiment at this time.
An exercise in scratch
building.
Bert was my best showing
vehicle in competition and also my
last. Bert received “Best
AFV”, “Best AFV Historical Representation”, and “Best AFV Interior” for my
efforts.
