04.01

Minutes 03 from November 21, 2007 PAC meeting were approved unanimously.

Motion

04.02

Marina nominated James Burton as chair of Kitsilano Secondary High School PAC. The PAC voted James as chair unanimously.

Motion was passed unanimously that James Burton complete written nomination form for Jacqueline Stoeckler’s position to the CPAC exec.

A motion was passed unanimously to write a letter to VSB that:

The KSS PAC supports the submission by the Vancouver Secondary and Elementary School’s Athletic Associations to fund a full-time Athletic Coordinator, in addition to the existing Assistant position, with a budget for an expanded athletic program.

The treasurer confirmed that the $1200 is available for a LCD projector for the social department. The PAC was also informed that a staff member is well aware where the equipment is and that it is well used.

A motion was proposed and unanimously approved that the PAC is funding a LCD projector for approx $1200 for the social department.

Teacher report by Gena Kolson:

Gina mentioned that librarian Giovanna Bombino is quite sick (The PAC is wishing her fast recovery).

Grade 8 students selected five favorite books.

On line learning is available to students for free without any parental or teacher consent. The completion rate is about 35%. On line learning program has a bad effect on teachers moral.

Principals Report:

Alex Grant called a staff committee headed by Cristal Tanfara (Vice principal) to establish an alternative to the traditional “Honor Roll Assembly”. Some possibility they might consider are: Pizza party, student entertainment, breakfast with principal, student’s performance. The main purpose is to encourage other students to set goals and work towards them.

February 05, 2008 a course planning evening by the school councilors is in planning. Details will be confirmed.

April 09, 2008 is the school growth planning day.

Marina, Lesley and Andrew will meet with Alex Grant to discuss ways to communicate with parents more effectively.

 

04.09

A discussion took place about holiday arrangements during the Olympics in 2010. Alex Grant mentioned that it is a district matter.
