Mirror, Mirror is an empowering play that explores and promotes
dialogue surrounding the topic of depression. With the mentorship of
theatre writer and director Valerie Methot, nine youth were facilitated
through a script writing collaboration while exploring different ideas
and aspects of depression, followed by workshops and a rehearsal
process. Depression touches all of us and manifests in many different
ways. Mirror, Mirror is a sophisticated and dynamic play with an
element of wit that encourages awareness about perspective(s) and the
regular upkeep of your life. This is a great opportunity for students
to entertain and educate their peers and adults on this critical
topic. There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask
questions in a facilitated talkback session after the play.
Youth participants include students from Templeton, Kitsilano
(including alumni), Vancouver Technical and Ideal Mini School. The show
will be performed at participating high schools in the daytime to
students, teachers and staff and a final show in the Performance Centre
at the Roundhouse Community Arts Centre.
The public is invited to the 7pm show on Thursday Feb 9th, 2006 in the
auditorium at Kitsilano Secondary.
