2008 Parent walkabout is Sep.  23

Date: September 25, 2007 from 6 to 9pm

Don't miss this opportunity to meet your child's new teachers. Parents follow their child's schedule through the school, visiting each classroom for 15 minutes. It's a great snapshot of your child's day at school.
At Walkabout, come by the PAC table in the foyer. We will have lots of information for parents about upcoming events at Kits, and several PAC fundraisers.

PAC will have beautiful note cards for sale, featuring our favourite print of Kits by parent and artist Barb Wood. Book Plates will be available as well, which you can purchase for $10 each. Each book plate is placed in a new purchase for our library, and will provide a lasting momento of your child or family. All proceeds go directly to our library.

Usborne Books will also have a display and sale. Profits from all Usborne purchases will be donated to our library, so come and see the great new selections.

Don't miss Walkabout night... and don't forget your cheque book. PAC depends on your support for fundraising.

Helpful tip from a Kits grade counselor: when your student goes out with friends after school, get the last name of at least one of the friends. If you need to reach your student while he/she is out, the last name of a friend often helps. The counselor reported that they sometimes get calls after school for help finding a student who is out with friends, and if the last name of a friend is not known, there is little that can be done.

re Parent Walk About

“Studies show beyond dispute that children's achievements in school improves with increased parent involvement in education." (Henderson, 1998)

One of the many ways you can show your interest in your child’s education is by attending the Parent Walk About.

Whether you are new to Kitsalino, or the parent of a returning student, this is a wonderful way to familiarize yourself with your children’s schedules, meet their teachers, find out their expectations, visit different classroom environments and connect with other parents.

As each classroom visit is only ten minutes long, personal concerns are better addressed in parent-teacher conferences or privately arranged face-to-face meetings.

See you at the school!
