Dial-a-Demon
2008-9
Parents - Important
Information - Sign up for Dial-A-Demon
Each year for the last eleven years, the Parent Advisory Council has
published a student phone book for the use of Kitsilano parents called,
Dial-a-Demon.
This is a handy source for parents to keep tabs on their children and
to have access to call parents whose numbers they might not have.
Students find the phone book handy when there is a class group project
and they are working with other students who they do not have any
contact information for.
Kitsilano Secondary School holds your child's name and home telephone
number(s), and is not permitted to release this information without
your consent. The Kitsilano Parents Advisory Council (Kits PAC) would
like to publish a student directory, known as the Dial-A-Demon, which
would list the name and home phone number(s) for each student attending
the School. The Kits PAC sells the directory to students and their
families in order to
help raise money for school projects and activities that the PAC
funds.
The directory is sold at PAC and other school related meetings. Also,
notice is sent on the PAC e-news when a new edition of the directory is
published.
Before the School will release this information to the Kits PAC, it
must obtain the consent of the student's parent(s) or guardian. Either
parent can consent. To document your consent, Kitsilano School and the
PAC ask
that you print a consent form (click on link above). Complete, sign and
return this form to the school office. Forms received before the end of
the 2008-9 grade 8 student welcome week will be included in the first
printing. There are plans for a second printing later in the year.
Ways to return the completed and signed form to the school:
- with your student to the 'Dial-a-Demon Box' in the school office
- fax to 604-713-8960
- mail to Kitsilano Secondary School, 2550 W 10th Avenue, Vancouver,
BC, V6K 2J6
- scan and attach to an e-mail to DialADemon@shaw.ca.
Kitsilano School values your
privacy and at no time do we give our parent phone numbers or e-mail
addresses to outside agencies. Your addresses are for Kitsilano
School use only and we appreciate your trust in us.
IMPORTANT: If your student's contact information is in the previous
Dial-A-Demon, you do not need to submit another form.
Note: the Dial-A-Demon name comes from the Kitsilano Blue Demons, a
name used by some of the school's athletic teams.

Helpful tip from a Kits
grade counselor: when your student goes out with friends after school,
get
the last name of at least one of the friends. If you need to reach your
student while he/she is out, the last name of a friend often helps. The
counselor reported that they sometimes get calls after school for help
finding a student who is out with friends, and if the last name of a
friend
is not known, there is little that can be done.
