Inventory mid August 24th, 2007
September 2nd, 2007
The Birds were released at the 300 mile race point at 8 am.
With a strong south wind there was a lot of discussion prior the
arrival as to what direction the birds would come from. It
ranged from the expected course line of SE to East and North
East. As far as time predictions we had them starting at 1:30
and as late as after 3 pm.
No one predicted and pointed directly to the North. This is
exactly were the first drop of 15 birds came from right at 2pm.
This was followed by another drop of 16 birds 2 minutes later.
By 2:30 pm or 30 minutes we had 64 birds back. Event at 3 pm we
had a drop of additional 10 birds. At 8 pm we had a total of 106
birds back out of the 129 birds sent to the race.
As far as the winning, the 15 first birds were declared equal
first and equally shared the combined pool of the 1st 15 prizes.
The second drop was declared equal second and equally shared the
remaining total of prizes.
It must be noted that there were few birds that were not
activated by the owners prior end of basketing and as last year
these birds became property of CCRPA.
Now that we have officially finished the 2nd Edmonton Capital City
Derby, The Club thanks all the
Participants for entering.
Overall, we could not
ask for a better day as far as the turn-out of people at the Goodchild's. The hosts, the weather, company of people and
food were fantastic. And yes let's not forget our pigeons as
this is why we have come together.
Here are the results and few pictures from the event.

totally cloudy and 20 - 30 km tail winds.
First drop was at 10:20 and second drop was at 10:22.
Dash for Cash will be postponed until Aug 23 (again weather

Please inform Fred & Dori Goodchild if
you will be coming for the derby so plans can be made.

CALCUTTA
: All can prepay their teams at a cost of $75 per team - 1,
2 OR all three 3 birds.
Monies to be received no later than August 26 ( 1 week prior
to race). Teams/Birds that are not pre-paid will
be auctioned on shipping night.
July 19th 2007
Started training on Jul 13 at 5 miles. Birds have had 4
tosses and are out 15 miles. Next toss will be at at 25
miles.
3 birds have been hurt and 3 more are missing since we
started training. Electronic bands should be on around the
end of the month and we will have another inventory then.
July 3rd 2007
At inventory time in mid June 8 birds were missing
and 2 were dead. Missing birds may still return.
We had quite a bout of young bird sickness but none had died
from that.
This week we had one bird die from a virus. The good news is
that no other birds are showing any more sign of sickness. When
loft cleaned Sunday Jul 1 droppings looked very good.
About 95% of birds are now ranging and fly for 45 min to 1
hour twice a day.
We'll do a complete inventory in the next couple of weeks and
will try to get an update out every week.
