Lived in Hoyland, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson of Milton Road, Hoyland and husband of Annie Vickers (formerly Thompson) of 42, Sheffield Road, Hoyland Common, he enlisted at Birdwell and was killed in action on the 3rd May, 1917, while serving on the Western Front.
