Hoyland War Memorial, dedicated to "Our Glorious
Dead" of World War I and World War II. Standing at
the intersect of West Street, Kirk Balk and Longfields
Crescent, it is a glimpse of history for a passing public
and the annual gathering place for remembrance.

Through the transcription of the names of those who
died, and by recording their local origins, regimental
details and the dates they died, the following pages hope
to provide its visitors a place to further remember their
times and share memories, or for those looking for
ancestors, a place to start the search.

Thanks go to family, staff at the Barnsley Chronicle,
Hoyland Town Hall, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough
Council and Barnsley Library, who have helped with the
transcription of names, shared their records and
continue the maintenance of the memorial.
