Hirst. Wilfred

Was born in Conisborough and lived in Elsecar, the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Hirst, he enlisted at Sheffield and died of wounds on the 2nd April, 1918, while serving on the Western Front.

                                               DARFIELD

Pte. Wilfred Hirst -

Councillor G.H. Hirst, Church St., Darfield, prospective Labour
candidate for the Wentworth Division, has received official notification
of the death of his son, Pte. Wilfred Hirst (West Yorks) from wounds
whilst a prisoner in the hands of the Germans. He was missing on
March 21, and subsequently reported to be a prisoner. Now the sad
intimation as been received that he died in hospital on April 2.
Mr. Hirst has another son serving in the Navy, and a daughter who
is a V. A. D. nurse.
