The son of Mrs. Edith Hinton of 4, Hall Street, Hoyland, he was born in Milton, lived in Hoyland and enlisted at Birdwell on the 1st September 1914, he served with the Expedtionary Force France and with the Mediterranean Force.
He was killed in action on the 20th March, 1917, while serving in Salonika.
