For 12 beautiful days,
In Yirg Alem we stayed.
Amarigna our topic,
Simple sentences we made.

Fukado our teacher,
Is amongst the best.
But only 2 days in 12,
Did he let us rest.

Megzat and meblat,
Many verbs we can name.
But becha and beCHA,
Still sound oddly the same.

We learned fidel and vocab,
And structure and grammer.
We did lots of pair work,
And games of all manner.

The language is confusing,
And I hate to be rude,
But megib ibelalow,
Means "I am food".

We learned some British,
Along the way.
Bugger and bollocks,
Are naughty things to say.

A loo is a toilet,
And an arse is a bum.
But I am not convinced,
To say aluminium.

Our rooms were very nice,
The gardens better still.
The food tasted good,
But it made us very ill.

The tibs were delightful,
And the porridge was the best.
The shorba was quite yummy,
As Rachelle can attest.

The pasta was delicious,
And the veggies I had some.
Could it be the fresh salad,
That gave me runny bum?

Awassa we did visit,
For the pizza is divine.
And we went and saw the hippos,
Enjoying the sunshine.

We played lots of cards,
And other games of chance.
But when it came to playing hearts,
You were all so pants.

Basketball was fun,
Njeru was the champ.
To play against Marieka,
One needs to bring a ramp.

We talked about the stars,
Sandra Bullock is my belle.
For Pauline and Ina,
George Clooney sure is swell.

In Yirg Alem Ilske stayed,
for 3 weeks straight.
But Addis on Wednesday,
She wouldn’t be late.

I cut Sally’s hair,
On a sunny afternoon.
But a real barber,
She will probably visit soon.

Sally has a special skill,
Mostly useless I suppose.
She can stick her tongue out far,
And touch the tip of her nose.

Dr. Jo is very clever,
With a memory like a trap.
But who sings that song? and when? and where?
Do we really give a crap?

Amaregna was our focus,
And we sure learned a ton.
But as the days went by,
We also had some fun.
