Classes

Barbarian

Despite its location, barbarians are few and far between in Valleydale.  Bugbears of the Order of the Steel Fang are trained in the berserker ways inherent to barbarians, but aside from that, only a handful of individuals who prefer living in the wild to the city and farmland areas are members of this class.  Barbaric travelers who come to Valleydale are welcome, but watched carefully due to the fact they tend not to understand or follow the local laws and customs.

Bard

Traveling bards are commonplace in Valleydale, often coming to train with the half-elf bard, Rasshale, at Rasshale's conservatory, or studying within the Great Library of Deneir.  Bards are always made welcome within the feast halls and taverns.

Cleric

Human clerics trained in Valleydale usually worship on of the deities represented in the dale.  Bugbears worship either Chauntea or Tempus.  Non-humans typically worship gods of their own pantheon.  Clerics are surprisingly abundant in Valleydale.

Druid

The druid enclave of Elton's Spring trains young druids of many races.  While not all druids in the dale belong to the enclave, most druids worship Chauntea, Silvanus or Mielekki.  Druids of the area are typically good men and women, though a few Silvanites are more zealous towards the natural order.

Fighter

By far the most common adventuring profession, there is no lack of training available for fighters.  The temple of Helm and Tempus, along with the City Militia provide training for their own men and for others for reasonable fees.

Monk

There are two orders of monks that train within the borders of Valleydale.  While not numerous, monkish pilgrimages are not unknown to travel to Valleydale to train.  Monks are well thought of due to their selflessness and helpfullness.

The first order is the Order of the Watchful, dedicated to Helm.  These monks are ever vigilant against evil and dangers to Valleydale and travel the lands widely in their vigil.  They typically are a very serious group of men (women are not permitted), known to possess little mirth or vice.

The second monkish order is the Order of Fei Long.  It's school is located in Estle and taught by Master Sung Hau, an Shou immigrant from the far east.  The Order of Fei Long teaches a fighting style and way of living dedicated to simplicity and aiding others.  Master Sung Hau also travels to teach self defense and simply martial skills to the common men and women of the valley.

Paladin

There are very few paladins, though Helm, Lathandar and Torm all allow them to be ordained within Valleydale.

Ranger

Rangers are nearly common in the area making up the large portion of trailblazers and explorers, woodsmen and hunters.  Training as a ranger is gained easily at the Elton's Spring compound.  Often, rangers of all manner travel deep into the mountains to train with an ancient dwarf, Kaleb Redbeard, who wanders the mountains and sometimes takes apprentices.

Sorcerer

There are very few sorcerers within Valleydale and they are looked upon with suspicion for their differences from wizards.  The majority of sorcerers are dwarves, and dwarven sorcerers manage to avoid the suspicion that sorcerers of other races experience.

Wizard

Valleydale hosts several wizards of varying power.  The most outgoing of these is the gnomish wizard Poff Fiddlestone, who's large tower complex in Estle is seldom apprentice free.  The most powerful wizard in the dale is the High Mage Icewolf, who is a member of the Company of the Silver Wolf and lives isolated in the deepest recesses of the Redwood.  Mourn Silvercloak is the most powerful wizard in Threshold, though getting apprentice positions is difficult.  Noblick, Teela Wildfire and Strad March are all minor to moderately powerful wizards who reside in Threshold.
