Dear Minister:

I am writing on behalf of the Vancouver-North chapter of Canadian Parents for French, a parent volunteer group, to urge you to reinstate the Annual Facilities Grant (AFG) that the Ministry of Education cut last August. The full impact of this $110,000,000 cut is being felt across the Vancouver school district, with teacher layoffs, deep cuts to special education, multiple school closures, and reduction in access to programmes of choice such as French Immersion all real possibilities.

I understand that the public purse is not bottomless, and that school districts will have to seek further efficiencies, but this grant is too vital to the health of our public schools to be eliminated.

I believe, and I hope you do too, in a strong public school system; please show your support by working for the immediate reinstatement of the AFG.

Yours sincerely,
