
Here is what a tuft should look
like notice the tufts feathers are attach to a peduncle
of skin.

Ringlet shape: All the feathers grow
in one direction and fit together tightly making a ringlet or spoon
bowl shape. Their directions can
be upward, backward,
frontward.

Fan shape: All the feathers grow in one
direction but they are spread out or fanned. Frequently this form is
vertical or Horizontal.

Ball Shape: Unlike the first two the
feathers of the ball type grow in many directions and comes together at
their tips to create a
spherical shape.

Rosette shape: Also has feathers that grow in
many direction but they spread outward instead making an irregular
fluffy mass.

Powder Puff shape: It has feathers
that grow uniformly away from the centre in
a circular pattern.
