The Cowichan
Neighbourhood House Association has various activities for Youth (ages 12
to 18) at the Old Chemainus Fire Hall. Below are some of the regular
activities. For a list of current events, please check our Activities Schedule
page.
During the school year,
we have senior youth (18-25) from Capernwray Bible
School, who help as part of their outreach program. This gives
our youth the opportunity to meet other young people from around the
world, learn from their example, and expand friendships
Youth Drop-in: Monday - Friday 3 – 5pm where
youth can play pool, listen to music, play air hockey, foosball,
use the computers or the play Wii.
Friday and Saturday
Nights 7pm – 10pm – play pool, use the gym, play air hockey, foosball,
use computers or play Wii. Special events like youth dinners or
field trips often also happen on Friday Nights – check our monthly
calendar, bulletin boards and facebook page to
find out what is happening. Fire Hall Fridays are led by North Cowichan
staff and volunteers, FUNtastic
Fridays are led by CNHA volunteers.
Captivate: Wednesdays 3pm -5pm – For ages
12- 18, a different activity each week; art, carfts,
games, tournaments. No computers available during this time.
Youth
Baking: Every second Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm –
led by North Cowichan’s Youth Outreach worker, Rebecca and Dawn. This is for youth ages 12-18 and
pre-registration is required so that the correct amount of supplies can
be purchased. Sign up by the Wednesday before. Check the calendar for each months
dates.

Cooking: Every second Thursday from 6pm to 8pmish – led by Harry, Penny & Michele.

Youth
Workshops: We also organize educational workshops
according to needs we have identified in the community. We have done
workshops on depression and suicide, healthy sexuality, communication,
and life skills.
Other activities: We also organize various field
trips throughout the year in partnership with the North Cowichan Youth
Outreach Worker. Other activities include dances and educational
workshops. We are always looking for exciting new activities, so if you
have skills to share, please contact us and become one of our star
volunteers.
Youth Concerts: Our Youth
Concerts have attracted bands from as far away as Kelowna, Calgary and
Manitoba. Watch our website for future concert listings.
