
Finished size 14" square.
Block size = 4" finished.
100% cotton fabric recommended.
Supplies.
.1m of each light and dark fabrics.
.1m of each background fabrics.
.4m backing (15 ½" square)
.4m batting (15 ½" square)
.2m dark fabric for border.
Rotary mat and cutter.
24" x 6" ruler.
Bias square.
Pencil.
Directions.
Make 4 - 2" - ½ square triangles (see ppts for instructions) for each pinwheel block. You need 9 light pinwheel bocks and 9 dark pinwheel blocks. Press to the dark.
Join two together to make unit 1. Repeat rotate one square 180 degrees.
Butt opposing seams together, and stitch together to make the pinwheel.
Make 9 light pinwheels and 9 dark pinwheels.
Join a light pinwheel to a dark pinwheel. You need 6 of these units. Then join a light or dark to one end of this unit. You need 3 - light, dark, light and 3 - dark, light, dark rows. Press to the dark block.
Join the rows together; you should end up with 2 - 12½" blocks. Measure it along the center of each row and take the average measurement if it is not 12 ½". Cut your border strips this measurement.
Cut 4 dark fabric border strips, 12 ½" x 1 ½". Sew one strip to the top and one to the bottom of each block. Press.
Cut 4 dark fabric border strips, 14 ½" x 1 ½". Sew one strip to each side of each block. Press.
