Cruise Ships are big item during the summer in Vancouver
This "Infinity" is the newest and largest of the ships. At 2600 passengers, it beats the large Princess ships with only 1900.

More typical of the fleets
plying the waters in front of our place is this 1900 passenger Princess line:

They berth at the five sails depicted as the white structure on the right here in Burrard Inlet (Coal Harbour) and pass by our place under the newly renovated Lion's Gate bridge across the first narrows. West Vancouver is on the right at the base of Cypress Mountain. Passenger volume has risen dramatically during the past fifteen years, reaching over a million passengers in 2000, making the Alaska Passage account for 8% of worldwide cruise ship volume.

Each spring, we get a calendar that shows all the sailings and the tonnage and registration of all ships coming to Vancouver that season. It is fun to look for the newest ones each year. They sail from April to October. Then they head through the Panama Canal to the Caribbean for the winter.
