1/ A heavily laden Evans Cherry in the city of Edmonton. Evans
is a very heavy producer and quite hardy in zone 3 as long as it
is not pushed with fertilizer.
|
2/ 922 End, an Alberta developed apple, excellent for cooking and
juice. This cultivar is one of the hardiest apples on the planet, and shows no
damage after -45C and colder temperatures. It grows and produces in
Central Alaska.
|
3/ Trailman Crab, an Alberta developed crab. Extremely hardy, good tasting
when ripe, and it makes a beautiful, neon, golden juice.
|
|
4/ 18-18-11, an advanced selection from the University of Saskatchewan's
breeding program. Very hardy, good all purpose apple.
|
5/ North West part of my 200 tree orchard. The trees are from one to
eight years old. Ranetka Crab is the rootstock used in most of the trees in this
photo.
|
6/ Prairie Sun, a new release from the U. of Saskatchewan, on very
dwarfing V3 rootstock developed at the University of Guelph (M9 X Kerr)
|
|
7/ Jim and Joyce, who own the land my orchard stands on, in front of a
Norkent tree on Ranetka rootstock. The tree is 8 years old and the
apples turn a nice striped red later in September.
|
8/ Spartan, which to my astonishment has survived and produced for the
last 3 years on Ranetka, with 18-10-32, an advanced selection from the U. of
Saskatchewan, grafted on the lower part of the tree.

9/ Wealthy on Ottawa 3 rootstock.
