ACHIEVEMENT

To have lived well,
laughed often and loved much;
to have gained the love of children;
to have filled a niche
and accomplished a task;
to have left the world better...
whether by an improved poppy,
a perfect poem or a rescued soul;
to have appreciated earth's beauty
and not failed to express it;
to have looked for the best in others,
and to have given the best of yourself.
That is achievement.

Robert Louis Stevenson

Vernon Morning Star: (About Dr Art and Agnes Sovereign.)
"Never have two people made such a difference."

Vancouver Sun Tuesday March 3, 1992 page B2
"When Agnes Sovereign, Vernon's best citizen, led the parade through the centre of the Vernon recently, there was hardly a soul in the cheering crowd whose life she had not somehouw touched... The Vernon Winter Carnival Parade was a fitting tribute to a woman who has spent the past 34 years devoting herself to the welfare of the city and its residents."
