Description of Launch:
Good slope off side of road. An old converyor
belt is the ground cover.
Get a good run (6400’ ASL). Do not launch in left hand cross wind!
Dirty setup area due to coal at surface. Set-up area for only 6 -
8
gliders.

Directions to Launch:
Drive north from Sparwood. 9.5 Km east of Elkford after crossing
the
Fording River, take the right (South) fork
and then the left fork across the rail road tracks. 600 meters
past
the rail road tracks, take the right fork up to launch.
Launch is just west of the Continental divide.
Description of LZ:
Huge, slightly rolly, clear and easy “around corner” from launch.
Cobblestone
on North side.
Directions to LZ:
9.5 Km east of Elkford after crossing the Fording River, drive
past
the right (South) fork across the rail road tracks up to launch.
The LZ is the large field (on the NW side of the road) which
begins
where the road turns north to Fording Coal Ltd (16 Km north of the
LZ).
The bailout LZ, which is directly below launch, slopes down along its length.
