Heliotrope
Ridge Photo Tour
Approaching
the glaciers of Mt. Baker, Washington.

The Heliotrope Ridge trail begins in old-growth
Douglas Fir forest.

Early morning in the old-growth forest brings the
sounds of creatures not easily seen. Can you spot
the tiny bird?

After climbing trough the dark old-growth forest
we catch our first glimpse of the glacier. We
encountered numerous babbling brooks on our
journey. A word of caution: these small streams
become dangerous rivers later in the day, as the
heat from the sun causes glacier run-off.

Numerous creeks, streams and waterfalls are to be
encountered along Heliotrope Ridge Trail.
